Congenital penile curvature

Almost no penis is perfectly straight – this is completely normal. However, severe curvature, also known as penile deviation, can be aesthetically disturbing or even cause pain and constraints. Around 5% of men suffer from this. PHALLOSAN offers you a gentle and effective way to feel good in your body again.

Congenital penile curvature as a medical condition

Congenital penile curvature develops already in the womb. The causes are not always clear and can be very different:

Uneven development of the corpora cavernosa (erectile tissue): There are three corpora cavernosa in the male penis, which normally grow evenly. If the growth of one of these is restricted, penile deviation can occur.

Asymmetrical tissue development: If the connective tissue structure that stabilizes the penis develops unevenly, this can lead to deformation.

Urethral malformations: Penile curvature can also be caused by hypospadias – shortening or displacement of the urethra.

Genetic factors: It is possible for genetics to play a role as well. If other family members are affected, your risk of having a curved penis is increased.

Hormonal influence: In addition, hormonal imbalances that occur during gestation can have an influence on correct development. Testosterone plays a decisive role here.

Is surgery advisable for congenital penile curvature?

Surgery is usually only considered if those affected suffer from pain or significant constraints during sexual intercourse. Correction for cosmetic reasons is generally not recommended, as the risks are too high in some cases. During surgery, important structures for the special functions of the penis can be injured. In addition, cosmetic surgery is usually only able to adapt the longer corpus cavernosum to the shorter one. You therefore have to live with the fact that the penis will become a few centimeters shorter. It is not uncommon for the aesthetics of the limb to be greatly impaired after the operation.
